An entrepreneur, a (pretend) stay-at-home mom, a safety expert, a wife, a CEO, a friend and a litigation consultant.
Jennifer P. Toney is Founder and CEO at http://WeMakeItSafer.com . After several years of research related to product safety information and recalls, Jennifer started the Safety Matters blog in August 2008 to share what she has learned and to gain insight from others. In November 2009, the Safety Matters blog moved to its new home as The WeMakeItSafer Blog on the WeMakeItSafer site: http://WeMakeItSafer.com/blog .
Jennifer has since started this, more personal blog, Cloning is Not an Option, as a way to share her experiences as someone who climbed the corporate ladder; returned to business school and started a company - all while trying to nurture two gorgeous children and a loving husband without breaking anyone or anything. Jennifer’s story is one to which many can relate and, by sharing her experiences (for bettor and for worse) Jennifer hopes others can learn, or at least take solace in knowing they are not alone.
Prior to founding WeMakeItSafer.com, Jennifer was a Principal with ERSGroup, an economic and financial litigation-consulting firm. Before ERSGroup, Jennifer was a Senior Consultant with Navigant Consulting and an Analyst with a boutique firm, both of which specialized in financial, management and litigation consulting.
Throughout her consulting career, Jennifer specialized as a commercial damages expert. As such, she analyzed the financial impacts of harmful events such as product recall, environmental damage, intellectual property infringement and breach of contract for a wide range of companies, from small startups to Fortune 5 giants. Her expertise spans many industries, including consumer products, retail, energy, insurance and technology.
Jennifer graduated with Honors and as a Community Fellow from the University of California at Berkeley, Haas School of Business where, in addition to her MBA, she earned certificates in Entrepreneurship and in Management of Technology (MOT) - a joint curriculum program with the College of Engineering. Jennifer also completed her undergraduate work at UC Berkeley, where she graduated with Distinction (cum laude) in three years with degrees in Economics and in Japanese. Jennifer also studied and conducted research in Economics at Oxford University (UK).
Jennifer lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and two children.
In addition to spending time with her family and thinking up business solutions to social problems, jennifer’s passions include classical music, fitness, art, and now... golf!
